Home/Share Programming you can support
on ioby!

While the Home/Share will operate every day as an open, inclusive and supportive space for everyone, we have two cornerstone programs that will serve as the foundation for our engagement and interaction with the community: Home/Share Lil’ Entrepreneurs, and GamerHaven Academy!

Each of these small-group, flexible programs offer hands-on experience for participants, creative and innovative experiences, and an opportunity for participants (and their parents) to learn a little more about two important aspects of modern life: Entrepreneurship and Games Culture.

We’ll outline each program in further detail below.

Robert Gatewood developed a Workshop for kids aged 7-17. Over the course of 7 sessions participants (and their parents) will learn about Games Culture and how it affects and improves life for everyone! Hands-on or virtual experience with everything around games including game development, games criticism, eSports, retail, design and more will expose participants to the variety of ways gaming is in their world. More importantly, it’ll show that people can learn important lessons and skills for well-rounded lives through an interest or passion for games.

Additionally, Students earn a small stipend for working with Master Collective to develop game ideas and concepts.

Created as an in-school event for early high school students and expanded to support education and engagement for students of all ages, GH Academy at the Home/Share will be a new way of taking the world’s largest form of entertainment and grounding it in real-life applications and value.

Marlene Gatewood-Allen developed a program for kids aged 9-14. They will learn real world experience in a 6-week youth internship and entrepreneur incubator program facilitated by local Leaders, Artists, Educators, and Entrepreneurs. Practical skills from various industries including Hospitality, Graphic Design, Customer Service, and Retail are the foundation of the program, and participants will also learn administrative, accounting, and maintenance processes during the internship at the Gatewood Home/Share.

Launching the Programs

If we are fortunate enough to be funded through our campaign, the following steps outline how we will fill the cohorts out, identify specific measures and subjects to focus on, and the timeline for sessions (as listed on the ioby campaign page):

  1. Create a list of eligible youth participants from partners across Collinwood and other Cleveland Neighborhoods, with the goal of having a list of no fewer than 50 participants ready for enrollment (Week 1 after funding)

  2. Complete purchase of necessary technical and kitchen related hardware and software to fulfill the goals of HSLE and GHA (Week 2/3 after funding)

  3. Secure guest professionals for each cohort (Week 5 after funding)

  4. Secure dates and times for each cohort and schedule sessions based on best availability for eligible participants (Week 5 after funding, use of our spaces will be primarily available to community users, as limited by proper social distancing guidelines, so we will block out time for each session to maximize safety)
